The Winery (Wine Bar) The Winery Surry Hills, which is a fabulous new addition to Sydney’s sophisticated bar scene. Having formerly been an old reservoir site, the stylish interiors blend original industrial fittings (think antique hydraulic equipment) with an eclectic mix of cowhide ottomans, chandeliers, and even a luscious tropical jungle growing out of the wall. With cosy lounges upstairs and a buzzing leafy terrace outside, this is one of Sydney’s most popular venues for a cocktail. The wine list is even more impressive, featuring over 60 international wines by the glass.

The Beresford (Cool Pub) Formerly the old-fashioned beer drinking venue of choice for Sydney’s elderly men, the newly refurbished Beresford Hotel has been dramatically transformed into one of Sydney’s best nightspots. The Beresford Hotel offers a multitude of fun spaces that you can lose yourself in for an entire evening. The most popular is the trendy outdoor garden terrace, along with the buzzing indoor bar which is constantly packed with a stylish-yet-relaxed local crowd. Renowned for its extensive selection of premium tap beers, the bar also offers a solid menu of cocktails and wines.

Sticky (Cocktail Bar) Hidden away upstairs in a Surry Hills back street, Sticky Bar is tiny, dark and cosy haven where you can easily spend the entire evening slowly working your way through their short but superb selection of cocktails, wines, Italian beers and their specialty ‘sticky’ dessert wine. Entering into Sticky has the distinct feel of being invited over to you friend’s cool apartment, where chances are that you’ll know at least one person in the room. As a semi-private bar, you’ll need to call the owner Michael to get in or to make an advance reservation for larger groups given the small, intimate space.
