The Mondrian Swanky, stylish and sexy describe this five-star staple of the West Hollywood luxury hotel scene. Designer Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz has gone all-out with his orange art deco renovation of the hotel’s 237 rooms, casting a modern and refined aesthetic. The legendary poolside Skybar offers fantastic views of downtown Los Angeles and has been drawing Los Angeles cool crowd for years, decked out in yellows and golds, glass surfaces and handmade Mexican furniture. For those who can’t get past the tight door policy (which tends to favour hotel guests and celebrities), the lobby bar, ADCB, serves tapas, sushi, and well crafted (yet expensive) cocktails. The rooms are comfortably large, offering Egyptian cotton, a variety of pillows, down comforters, and white on white color schemes. The award-winning restaurant, Asia de Cuba, serves up Asian fusion cuisine in an Alice in Wonderland-style setting, enjoyed along banquettes that offer breathtaking views of the twinkling cityscape. These same views, or almost the same, are available from virtually every room within this “hotel in the clouds”. Don't be surprised if you see a famous face or two in the crowd.
