If you’re looking for strong, aromatic and perfectly blended coffee, head straight to Venice’s bustling 1930s coffee bar, Torrefazione Marchi. Savour the smells of the aromatic roasted coffee as you arrive, and prepare to be elbow-to-elbow with Venetian locals all jostling for a position at the standing-only bar. As the only coffee shop in Venice to be allowed to brew and sell their own roasted coffee on the premises, this family-run coffee shop is a local Venetian institution. The rustic decor of wooden walls and stacked bags of fresh coffee piled around the floor has barely changed since it first opened in the 1930s, and the specialties of the house is the caffe della sposa with eight of the best Arabica blends, along with the Veneziano with coffee, cocoa and milk foam.
