Limon

  • Peruvian

Innovative, sophisticated Limon is a trendy Peruvian spot in the Mission district that creatively blends flavors from Peru, Spain and the Basque country with architectural mastery. Martin Castillo, head chef and owner, invited Emmanuel Piqueras (from Spain's three Michelin starred Arzak) into his newly rebuilt kitchen after a fire ravaged the restaurant a few years ago. The newly rebuilt Limon is stylish and clean, with an open kitchen, plush, comfortable chairs and modern artwork decorating the loft-like space. Dishes include sushi-grade fish prepared into traditional ceviches; dramatically presented twice-cooked and vertically arranged octopus with piquillo peppers, Botija olive foam and cilantro; and the signature deconstructed salted lomo saltado topped with truffle-scented french fries. Diners may also want to consider the smaller, more casual sister restaurant, Limon Rotisserie, located only several blocks away to experience their signature slow-roasted free-range chicken.
