Inside Rio de Janeiro's Copacabana Palace Hotel is one of the city's most well-known nightlife spots, the Bar do Copa bar and nightclub. Located in the iconic 5-star Copacabana Palace hotel adjacent to the hotel's beautiful swimming pool, Bar do Copa underwent an extensive makeover in 2009, receiving a new ceiling with over 10,000 sparkling lights to resemble the midnight sky. The spacious lounge area was also given a futuristic touch with the addition of gilded mosaics and column-sized luminaries. Don’t be surprised if you see a famous face in the crowd, as this tends to be a favourite party spot of the city’s professional football players, soap opera stars and Brazilian model crowd. The Bar do Copa club features live band or DJs throughout the week, with a different live music schedule each night. The door policy is selective so dress up to improve your chances of gaining entry. The signature cocktail includes the ‘Fred Astaire’ with blackberry cream and bourbon, and the club's wine list is also impressive.
