Mama Shelter

  • Design

What do you get when the legendary designer Philippe Starck, the co-founding brothers of Club Med and a famous French philosopher join forces? The ultra-cool, off-the-wall design hotel, Mama Shelter. In stark contrast to Paris’ typically conservative hotels, the Mama Shelter has a bold and electric vibe, seriously fun public spaces and refreshingly affordable prices for Paris. Although its located on the outskirts of Paris’ city centre in a fairly nondescript area, it hasn’t stopped this hotel from becoming one of the most popular budget chic hotels in town. As with all of Starck’s ventures, hip public spaces take centre stage with a super-cool cocktail bar and a trendy in-house restaurant serving casual French bistro fare. Make sure you take some time to kick back on the lounges and read through some of the scribbled philosophical musings written all over the chalkboard ceilings and walls. While you might have to make an extra hike to get back into the centre of Paris, for a fun and affordable hotel experience like this, we think it’s definitely worth it.
