This tiny eighteen-seater NoLita Italian eatery offers inventive, seasonally-inspired cuisine in a fun and casual setting. As the latest magnet for New York’s foodie crowd, expect to queue at this no-reservations dining gem, where the team offer a daily walk-in lunch and dinner service. Chefs Richard Torrisi and Mario Carbone have a refined pedigree of New York restaurants under their belts, including the likes of WD-50, Guy Savoy, Cafe Boulud, and Del Posto to name a few. As progressive American chefs, they champion American produce, meats, olive oils and cheese, which all feature heavily throughout their menu. Torrisi’s nightly ‘Pre-Fixe’ menu (antipasti, a pasta, a choice of two main courses, and a flight of tiny desserts for $60 per person) offers some of the most interesting Italian-American cuisine in New York. Their extended ‘Tasting Menu’ is a more indulgent way to experience the chefs culinary talents for $125 per person. Expect flavours such as a Heritage pork chop with biting homemade vinegar peppers, or “devil’s chicken”, a barbecue-like balance of New Mexico chili peppers and New York State yogurt. Lunchtime features affordably-priced classic rolls and hero sandwiches (Chicken Parm, House-roasted Turkey) and simple vegetable antipasti, served in their casual Parm cafe next door (closed Sundays).
