Pai Thai is the Madinat resort’s orientalist waterside restaurant, an oriental escape from the chaotic streets of Dubai. Located on the picturesque waterfront of the Madinat Juneirah's winding resort canals, arrive by either gondola or golf buggy and enjoy a lazy long modern Thai feast on their outdoor patio with wicker chairs and wooden, varnished floors. The menu departs from the spectacle surrounding the meal (except for the occasional live Thai dancer) with honest, fresh and airy food that yet somehow is choc-full of flavour. Chili, lemongrass, garlic, fresh coriander and coconut milk are all vitally present. Ask for a table outside by the waterway and tuck into light spring rolls, authentic and copious papaya salad, pad thai, and green curry chicken. All the staples are there, and are well cooked. But the high prices are obviously due to the serene setting, which offers a romantic escape - one of the few outdoor places in Dubai that is quiet and pleasant.
