Formerly a takeaway kebab shop, this intimate dining space was transformed several years ago into one of Berlin’s hottest casual restaurants, Bandol Sur Mer. Located by Rosenthaler Platz and with only 21 seats within the intimate dining space, don’t be surprised to see locals queuing up to sample a taste of Bandol Sur Mer’s French bistro fare. The frequently changing menu showcases the freshest ingredients from the market, where classic French recipes are given an innovative twist. The daily specials are written in white on the ardoise chalkboard, where it’s best to arrive for the first evening sitting to ensure that you don’t miss out on the featured dish of the day. Expect quintessentially French flavours such as snails in herb butter mixed with veal sweetbread aspic; melt-in-your-mouth marinated veal; the house specialty tender entrecote steak; and the chicken terrine served with sweet tomato sauce. Make sure that you save some room for a taste from the delicious French cheese platter or dessert menu--the ultimate gourmand indulgence. The French wine list is also noteworthy.
