Warung Ibu Oka

  • Indonesian

This lunch-only local warung is legendary for its highly affordable babi guling, a five-hour spit-roasted, coconut milk-basted, spiced suckling pig, where this is a favourite local gem for Balinese natives. A small, modestly presented open-air restaurant in the heart of Ubud, Ibu Oka begins serving its specialty early in the day, so we recommend that you arrive early to ensure that you don’t miss out. The specialty of the house is the “pisah”, comprising of a plate of coconut milk-basted, spiced suckling pig accompanied by coconut-infused rice: juicy meat, crackly and slightly caramelized skin, fried intestines, dry-rubbed and spiced meat, and a vegetable-based chili relish. Diners are invited into the indoor dining area to sit on mats and eat cafeteria style; outdoor seating is under the shade of umbrellas. Order a fresh coconut split open; its water offers as a natural balance to the spicy sauce. Open daily from 11am - 4pm.
