Sip Wine Bar, owned by ex-Parisian sommelier Christian Vanneque, has been a staple in Bali's stylish ex-pat circles since it first opened its doors. Dressed as an upscale French brasserie, the restaurant and bar serves haute classics such as escargot, foie gras, and lobster to appreciative, cosmopolitan locals and determined tourists willing to leave the beachfront for the bustling streets of Seminyak. It is the wine list, however, that truly draws the discerning crowd; Sip Wine Bar has one of the most extensive wine cellars in Bali, including a wealth of Australian and New Zealand classics, and endless bottles of French pinot noirs and merlots which are also available by the glass. The restaurant even offers free wireless internet to encourage afternoon sipping. While wine on this island is notoriously expensive, prices here are relatively fair and the well-priced food is excellent value. While it's still fairly easy to eat and drink here without reservation, this will no doubt change quickly as the word spreads about this fantastic wine-lovers spot.
